Land drain to a soakaway: the parts you need

A soakaway is a gravel-filled pit or a set of crates that lets water soak into the ground. Silt is what shortens its life, so fit a silt trap in the run just before the pit.

Where the pipe ends inside a gravel pit, finish it with a grid end: a grid plug inside the pipe end, or a grid end cap over it. Crates usually take a 110mm pipe stub, so use a 110mm to land drain adapter or a 110mm over-pipe reducer to step up from your land drain.

Take surface water and ground water to a soakaway. Never connect it to a foul drain.
