Details

In-line land drain silt trap for 60mm, 80mm and 100mm perforated pipe. Hopper catches grit before it packs the run and soakaway — buried in the trench, not a surface gully.

An in-line silt trap for land drain pipe. Water runs straight through; grit and sand drop into the hopper underneath instead of clogging the pipe and soakaway.

Push a pipe into each end until the pipe ends almost meet in the middle, then lay the trap level with the hopper facing down. Choose 60mm, 80mm or 100mm.

It sits buried in the trench. To empty it, dig down, lift one pipe out of the trap, clear the hopper and push the pipe back in.

Black PETG, made in the UK. Pipe not included; sold as a single silt trap.

From the journal

  • How to install a garden land drain (UK DIY)

Dig a gravel trench, lay perforated land drain to a fall, and take the water to a soakaway, ditch or 110mm surface-water outlet. This UK DIY guide covers layout, fittings and the mistakes that leave a lawn wet.

  • What is a land drain silt trap?

A land drain silt trap catches grit in a hopper so it does not pack the pipe and soakaway. Where to fit one on 60, 80 or 100mm land drain, and how to empty it.

  • How much land drain does a garden lawn need?

Most wet UK lawns need a layout, not a spare coil. Here is how to choose an interceptor or a herringbone, space laterals on clay or loam, and estimate metres of pipe and fittings.

  • Drainage when landscaping a garden with a large patio

A large patio sheds rain onto leftover lawn and borders like a roof on the ground. Plan paving falls, an interceptor drain and a silt trap before the slabs go down — you often need more drainage after landscaping, not less.
